About

The Vanderbilt Institute of National Security (INS) is an academic center dedicated to preparing the next generation of national security leaders at the intersection of policy, technology, and global conflict. Led by retired General Paul M. Nakasone, the Institute was designed to operate as a neutral, service-driven platform for applied national security work.

Client

Imperium serves as INS’s strategic communications advisor, leading national brand development in partnership with the Institute’s leadership and university stakeholders. Our work spans narrative development, digital strategy, thought leadership positioning, and third-party validation.

Challenge

As a newly launched institute, INS needed to establish national credibility in a crowded field dominated by legacy policy institutions. The challenge was to define a distinct identity that balanced academic rigor with real-world national security impact.

Results

Imperium built a cohesive narrative framework grounded in institutional neutrality, service, and actionable solutions, then operationalized it across digital platforms and earned media. Through leadership visibility, and targeted thought leadership, INS emerged as a nationally recognized proving ground for modern national security leadership.
